What is the reason for having an own category for a ”strong and intelligent woman”; are these qualities so strange in a woman? Why would I be a ”tomboy” if I didn’t act in a restrained womanly manner but in a relaxed and humorous way instead? In the end I just don’t want to make a restrictive category of my gender for myself, because being a woman itself is so diverse. Could a woman be sensitive and emotional without being categorized to womanhood that equals these qualities? When I talk about gendered job titles, the dividing of house work or appearance pressure, I don’t do it to preach political ideology that serves the sole purpose of hating the male sex. Nor do I do it quided by my hormones or just to yackety-yak for the little problems of my gender. The inequality of genders is alive and kicking in our society, still in 2018. Talking about the representation of female sex in movies isn’t about being rigorous, but deconstructing the structural inequality of sexes hidden in the gender categories instead. But as long as my endeavour to live equal without the restraints of my gender is seen as foolish fanaticism or emotional blow-ups I’ll be turned deaf ears.
