Kaisa

Let us call her the modern Virgin Mary. The humble and obedient woman is still the ideal. She who lives for the others and does what is expected of her. She behaves in a restrained manner – gives a cute smile without showing her teeth and does not guffaw. She is always modest, kind, submissive and angelic. From every perspective, she is a truly lovely person who deserves nothing but to be respected by everyone. Rather a lovely daughter, wife and mother.

I believe that the worst stereotypes identify oneself easily with and the ones you can find within – from your own or someone else’s perspective – because that indicates they have their roots deep in society. They can often be invisible or unobtrusive and you wouldn’t necessarily even think of them as stereotypes. Still, somewhere in the background they shape our assumptions of what kind of behavior to expect from a person. Wait there quietly, since you are a girl. Being so well off this is what troubles me the most, although I’m aware there are stereotypes far worse.
